Bundy Thunder 2009 Monday, January 11th, 2010

The Impatient Team eagerly made the trek north for the 2009 Bundy Thunder. The Hydro class(es) were well supported with 12 boats including front and rear seaters. Both Paul and Andrew had their moments this year with Paul getting the boat a little higher than he would have liked, and Andrew having some teething issues with the new setup. Nonetheless, it was a great event and below is a video captured from Pauls front sponson of one of the races on sunday.

Impatient 1 goes Injected!!! Monday, January 11th, 2010

Over the winter months, Andrew has been working away on a engine upgrade from 4.2L to 5L and including an EFI stack injection system driven by a Haltech Platinum Sport ECU. See below for some images and also a video coming soon on the Engine Dyno.

Top End Sprint 2009 Thursday, November 26th, 2009
This year’s Top End Sprint was an exiting and eventful race for Andrew competing in Impatient 1.  Taking 2nd last pole Andrew settled into 3rd position at the end of the first straight and was on the chase of Tim Bollins in 2nd when a few minutes in the race, the engine started to surge and slow down.  Aussie Blue seized the opportunity to over take Impatient 1 which was slowing off full speed.  As Andrew examined the gauges for a hint on the problem, Aussie Blue flipped straight up in the air and round 360 degress just in front of Impatient 1 and Andrew immediate killed the engine to pull up beside Aussie Blue and render assistance to a fellow racer.  Fortunately the driver emerged from the cockpit unhurt and indicated to Andrew that all was good and to continue his race.  At this point Bloody Mary came past at full pace relegating Andrew again to 4th.   Andrew fired up and took off and with the previous engine gremlin no where to be seen, got about the business of catching Bloody Mary.   About 3 turns from the finish, Andrew slipped up the inside of Bloody Mary and took 3rd place, holding 3rd to the finish.
See the video on left of Andrew’s slip into the wake of Bloody Mary while in pursuit (4th boat to pass).
Bridge to Bridge 2009 Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

_dsc0644-smallYet another eventful running of the Bridge to Bridge has seen Paul in Impatient 2 take 2nd place and Andrew in Impatient 1 take 4th place in the superclass. While both drivers were pleased to arrive at windsor, for Andrew it was the first finish in 4 years of attempts.

It nearly didn’t happen with Impatient 1 hitting a log about 1/3 of the way in and peeling back the turn fin which caused enough drag to keep the engine below 6000 rpm for the remainder of the race. It was during this time that Andrew reluctantly lost 3rd place to Handfull.

Paul had some dramas of his own with fuel delivery problems causing a heartstopping moment with Impatient 2 losing power with the finish line in site. But luckily the fuel returned for Paul to power over the line at speed. Congratulations to Anarchy for the win, and the division 2 Hydro guys, Dave in Atomic, Wayne in Classic Racing and Nathan in Miss September. See the Gallery for more photos and below for Channel 9 chopper footage.
